How to get Nutritional Facts on your Products

You've spent countless hours using the best ingredients to create your food or beverage. But, before it's ready to hit the shelves, there's one detail you can't forget to add. Nutrition labels. More and more, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requiring small businesses to provide nutritional information on its packaging. We can help you tackle this major step for your business by providing resources you can use to get your products on the shelf!

How exactly do all of these large companies figure out their nutrition facts? Can a small business access these resources? There are actually several options for small food and beverage manufacturers to get their products analyzed. Below are some of the most popular resources.

Send your Product to a Lab for a Thorough Analysis

Foods that are fried, coated, or salted must have their nutritional information determined by a lab because of their complexity. Since foods being analyzed in an official lab must follow strict procedures according to the FDA, the process can be both time consuming and expensive.

Examples of Product Labs:

Food labs such as these use their extensive database and food science experience to calculate accurate nutrition facts for consumers. The information they provide is based on the nutrition facts of each contributing ingredient and the percentage used in your recipe. These nutrition facts are tallied based on your processing procedures, allowing them to create an accurate assessment for the nutrition facts of your finished product. If your recipe information is unavailable, they will generally use a more thorough label analysis.

Use a Nutritional Database

Another popular option for smaller businesses and individuals is to use nutritional database sites. Resources like the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference are popular in determining nutrition facts because the information is free and readily available. You can find nutrition information on over 8,000 foods and ingredients and it is searchable by food item, group or description. This database contains complete analysis on a wide variety of ingredients, however, some items are still unable to be analyzed with this tool. There are quite a few other sites that allow you to enter in a particular ingredient and serving size to find out specific nutrition facts.

Examples of Nutritional Database Services:

Does the FDA Have to Approve the Panels?

Here’s the easy answer:

No. The FDA does not regulate nutrition fact panels on a proactive basis.

Let's break it down a bit further. The FDA provides information on standards they set forth, and recommends these nutrition fact guidelines are followed. Should the FDA find a business or individual is incorrectly or improperly reporting nutritional facts on their food labels, they will issue a recall. In order to avoid the frustrating and expensive "Spot Check" by the FDA, it's critical to accurately report and display your nutrition facts. You can find information related to food labeling guidelines and compliance directly from the FDA on their website.

If you're still uncertain or just don't have the time to spend doing it yourself, think about hiring an FDA approved label consultant. An FDA label consultant will ensure you are providing the most accurate information on your product labels.

Examples of Food Label Consultants:

Create A Nutrition Label For Your Product

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to create your nutrition labels after you have received your information is with a generator. You can use OnlineLabels.com's free nutrition label generatorand choose between three layouts: basic, vertical, or horizontal. Then, it's as easy as entering in your product's nutrition facts! Save your label to your computer or straight on OnlineLabels.com, choose the matching label size, and print it out at home or the office. Seriously, that's all there is to it!

Nappy Hair is Divine

Nappy hair is 'divine' -- the choice of God!

Like Christ, "His son" and all the founders of world religions, God Himself has kinky, nappy hair -- according to the Bible, where God or the "Ancient of Days" is described as having "hair like the pure wool." (Dan. 7:9) The Power that causes galaxies to spiral, and planets and atoms to spin; that causes the double helix spiral of the DNA molecules - this same spiraling power causes spiraling hair... otherwise known as NAPPY, kinky, curly, frizzy, wavy, WOOLLY hair! The words, SPIN, SPIRAL, and SPIRITUAL have common roots! The Supreme Power spins; spirals; it is spiritual. It moves or spirals the universe! The entire universe dances in spirals and rotations; everything in it reflects the "SPIRaling, SPIRitual" essence out of which it is made! The "SPIRal," especially the Golden Spiral, is simultaneously the most profound motion and design in the universe -- built into all lifeforms, from seashells to man, to spiraling nappy hair! Your blood spirals through your veins! Plants spiral up from the soil! And nappy hair spirals out from the hair roots! Ball your hand into a fist and slowly extend each finger and you will see for yourself how the tip of each finger opens in a golden spiral path! Straight-haired people also have a spiral on their heads, visible as a whorl pattern with its center in the back of the head, where their straight hair grows out slanting in the whorl's direction. Wooly haired people have both, the whorl pattern and the individually spiraling strands of helixal, coiled, spring-like, nappy hair ... the choice of the gods!

Did Jesus have dredlocks?

Jesus was a Nazarite: a vow of Nazarites was to never cut his hair but "let the locks of the hair of his head grow." (Nm. 6:2,5, Lv. 19:27; 21:5) The word Nazarite is from nazar, meaning unshorn. Wooly nappy hair, if simply washed and dried but never combed or brushed, will naturally entwine into long locks as it grows. Samson, the most famous example of locked hair, had seven locks. (Jg. 13:5, 16:17,19)

Hair is really antennae which can receive and transmit energy! A Rastafarian explains that dredlocks are a quality of Black people; they "are high-tension wires," which transmits divine energy and inspiration from Jah [God], the creator, to Rasta, the mirror." (Nicholas/Sparrow

Rastafari -- A Way of Life) As Blacks awaken to true self- knowledge and self-acceptance this brings, the negative racist conditioning with respect to their natural spiraling, nappy hair as "bad" and straighter hair as "good" will cease!

Ancient Egypt was a Black African Civilization. The word itself means Black!

The ancient Egyptians called themselves Kam or Kam-Au (Black people/ Black God- people), and their country Kamit (or Khemit), both meaning land of the Blacks and the Black Land. The word Egypt is derived from the Greek word Aigyptos (or Aiguptos) which means Black! Europe's first historian, Herodotus said "the Egyptians, Colchians, and Ethiopians have thick lips, broad nose, woolly hair and they are of burnt skin." Egyptian civilization evolved from the Ethiopians. The Bible equates Ham (Africans) with Egypt. (Ps.78:51; 105:23, 27; 106:21, 22) The Black identity of Egyptian mummies is proven by their high melanin content. Also, Egyptians made wigs from sheep wool to match their woolly hair! A superb summary of the first Egyptians, their culture and achievements is documented in Legrand Clegg's video Egypt During the Golden Age. Other great works include Gerald Massey's scholarly Egypt, Light of the World, and James Brunson's Predynastic Egypt. A powerful synthesis of the esoteric sciences of ancient Egypt, India and Canaan, is presented in Metu Neter by Ra Un Nefer Amen.

Whites blew off the Africoid nose of the Sphinx! -- and destroyed much ancient Africoid art.

Carved from a single rock, the Sphinx was a portrait of the Black Pharaoh Khafre (Cephren). The blatant, undeniable evidence of Black African achievement, blew off the Africoid nose and part of the lips with cannon fire! Reporting on the "riddle" of the racial identity of the ancient Egyptians, Count C. Volney, a distinguished French scholar who visited Egypt in the late 1700s, wrote with astonishment "...when I visited the Sphinx, its appearance gave me the key to the riddle. Beholding that head typically Negro in all its features..." He later added "...the Egyptians were true Negroes of the same type as all native-born Africans." The Sphinx's broad nose and full lips are evident in an early drawing of the Sphinx as it was found in the 19th century.

What's in your Dough

Azodicarbonamide 101

  • Azodicarbonamide is a yellow orangish powder, more commonly used commercially in the creation of foamed plastics – like yoga mats, shoe soles, floor mats and window gaskets.
  • The FDA allows food companies to use azodicarbonamide as a flour bleaching agent and dough conditioner in any food product giving it a status of GRAS or “Generally Regarded As Safe”.
  • But, the FDA doesn’t even keep track of the companies who use azodicarbonamide as an ingredient. The lack of information leads the FDA to not update or include an toxicity information about this ingredient in its EAFUS or “Everything Added to Food in the United States” database.
  • When a truck carrying azodicarbonamide overturned on a Chicago highway in 2001, it prompted city officials to issue the highest hazardous materials alert and evacuate people within a half mile radius! Many of the people on the scene complained of burning eyes and skin irritation as a result. (Source: Pandora’s Lunchbox by Melanie Warner)
  • The U.K. has recognized azodicarbonamide as a potential cause of asthma if inhaled, and advises against its use in people who have sensitivity to food dye allergies and other common allergies in food, because it can exacerbate the symptoms.
  • The World Health Organization(WHO) studied azodicarbonamide, and also linked it to asthma and other allergic reactions.
  • When azodicarbonamide partially degrades with the heat of processing, it forms trace amounts of semicarbazide, which shows carcinogenicity that can result in tumors over time.
  • The United States is one of the only countries in the world that still allows this ingredient in our food supply. It is banned as a food additive in the U.K., Europe, and Australia, and if you get caught using it in Singapore you can get up to 15 years in prison and be fined $450,000. I’d like to see the head of the FDA put in jail for allowing it, wouldn’t you?

Popular Products That Contain Azodicarbonamide

Sara Lee (many of their breads, bagels, etc.) Sara Lee
McDonalds (almost all their breads, baked goods, bagels, etc.)
McDonalds
Subway Breads (many items on the menu)
Subway
Wendy’s (many items on the menu)
Wendy's
Arby’s (almost all of their different breads)
Arby's
Starbucks
Starbucks

These are just a few examples, but there are many more companies that use azodicarbonamide in their products (Pizza HutPublix Grocery StoreJason’s Deli, etc). There is a very good list of other companies and brands that use this ingredient on the “Good Guide” – check it out here.

Why The Heck Are Companies Using This Ingredient?

Dough conditioners allow companies to pass off chemically processed cheap food as “freshly baked” because it recreates perfect, evenly packed air pockets within the dough, improving the texture after coming out of large industrial machines from processing. If a company uses azodicarbonamide as a flour bleaching agent it speeds up the processing, making bread larger and whiter than normal. Faster processing with cheaper ingredients = more money in Big Food pockets.

Flax seed gel oh what a relief it is

For the last few months  I have been eating flax seeds regularly
I just recently used it in my hair and on my skin
Oh yes it a must have to use daily forever here's why
Flax seeds are an awesome source of Omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids nourish the hair which in turn promotes healthy hair growth and a natural sheen when taken orally. I’ve seen the benefits of applying the Omega-3 fatty acids externally to my strands by way of the flax seed gel. You can use the gel on your scalp as well. It helps combat psoriasis and eczema that may be present on the scalp. You might want to think about adding some Omega-3 supplements to your daily vitamin intake to get your fair share of healthy fats. These unsaturated fats are beneficial to your cardiovascular and brain health as well as your immune system.
My Recipe
 1cup of flax seed
2 cups of water

Bring the flax seeds and water to a boil. Stir the flax seeds as the water boils. You will see a frothy type gel begin to form. Continue to stir for about another minute. Remove your pan from the heat and strain the mixture using a strainer with the smallest holes you can find or a tea ball.
After straining, let the gel cool and stir occasionally. Once it cools, apply as needed.
Oh it feel so good on my skin
My eczema immediately stop itching in my hands and the look great , and as I mention before diet is a big part of the process as well
Keep flaxseed gel refrigerated
Sincerely
Rozzy

Health Benefits of Herbal Tea --ancient medicine

Herbs are powerhouses of essential nutrients and are the best – and cheapest – supplements nature has to offer. By using quality herbs from organic and nutrient-rich soils you can be sure you’re getting the highest quality nutrition available. Herbs are nature’s own take on preventative medicine as they will bolster your body while facilitating better vitality and minimizing disease!

There are many ways herbs can nourish the body as we discussed in the post, What’s the Difference Between Tinctures, Tonics and Teas

It’s cheap. It’s easy. It’s quick. And it’s wholly nourishing.
process of extracting healing properties from plants using water is an ancient art. Herbal “teas” – also called “tinsanes” – are the world’s oldest recorded beverages and have been mentioned as a vital part of health since the earliest writings of history.

Teas can be made by soaking medicinal plant material either in cold water (as with the herbs marshmallow root, comfrey and slippery elm) or in hot water by using a process of infusion (steeping) or decoction (simmering).

When employing the basic method of tea-making with the right herbs you can unlock the power of nature to nourish your body, overcome nutritional deficiencies, and facilitate better vitality… all for just pennies a day!

You’ve probably read posts elsewhere from naturally-minded mommas about their “multi-vitamin” herbal tinctures, made either with alcohol, glycerin or raw vinegar.

But this is NOT the proper way to extract vitamins and minerals from herbs.

Quick lesson in Herbalism 101: Part of the art of herbalism includes understanding the chemical compounds that comprise an herb. Only then can you fully understand how a given herb works to facilitate healing in the body. Furthermore, each compound can only be extracted from an herb in certain solvents, like water, alcohol, glycerin, vinegar or oil. The key is to know which compounds you want to extract and then selecting the corresponding solvent. For instance, in our situation it’s important to know that minerals cannot be extracted by the solvent alcohol, which defeats our primary purpose. And other important compounds we desire (saponins, tannis and flavonoids) cannot be extracted using glycerin.  (You can read more about herbs and their chemical compounds here).

The possibilities are endless
The flavor combinations and the benefits alone is interesting enough to give herbal teas a try instead of high fructose corn syrup and high sugar period
It's a drug and will have your system all jacked up
I encourage you to give herbs a try

Toxic Telfon --- What you cook on or in can be dangerous

Since its debut, Teflon coated cookware has increased in popularity in kitchens worldwide. With good reason - this handy non-stick coating is simply a dream. Easy to cook on and easy to clean!

Teflon has literally revolutionized the manufacture of cookware. Even the worst of kitchen disasters cleans up in a jiffy when cooking on Teflon. One would be hard pressed to find any kitchen that did not have at least one Teflon coated piece of cookware. Teflon has become the way of the world.

Like many scientific breakthroughs, Teflon was accidentally discovered over 70 years ago by a scientist employed by DuPont.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) asserts that DuPont has purposely withheld health hazardous information regarding Teflon since the early 1980’s. Peflourooanoic acid (PFOA), a chemical used to produce Teflon, has been appearing in blood samples of people world wide. DuPont, slapped with approximately 300 million dollars in fines, has agreed to pay a 108 million dollar lawsuit brought about by residents near one of its company plants as elevated levels of PFOA’s have been found in surrounding drinking water supplies.

According to risk assessments by the EPA, PFOA’s present significant developmental and reproductive risks in humans with the use of Teflon:

An increased rate of birth defects has been found in mothers working at DuPont. The company’s response was to move female employees to other sections of the plant in an effort to reduce their exposure to PFOA’s.

The chemical coating that we have all come to benignly cook on is also used in fire fighting foam and phone cables.

Variants of FPOA’s are used to make the coating on stain resistant carpets and flame retardants for clothing and computers.

Teflon can also be found in nail polish removers, eyeglasses, and as lining in pizza boxes.

PFOA’s do not break down in the environment anytime soon, causing forever pollution. According to Tim Kropp, a toxicologist with the Environmental Working Group, if all future exposure is cut off, it would take the body at least 20 years to detoxify Teflon chemicals. Finally, the EPA has recommended that PFOA be classified as a human carcinogen.

Be advised that Teflon is the trade name for a line of cookware. Other lines of non stick cookware that use the Teflon coating includes Greblon, Silverstone, Supra, and Excaliber. This is not a comprehensive list. Check before you buy.

Careful as we try to be, it inevitable that our Teflon pots and pans will endure scratches at some point. In fact, many are certain to have an old, bruised, battered, and scratched Teflon pan that has been part of the kitchen arsenal for years and years. Hardly a utensil that should be used for cooking. A utensil that delivers a dangerous toxic load with each meal it helps prepare. Given the fact that Teflon is typically used to cover aluminum pots and pans, we are experiencing yet a double chemical assault as explained below.

The bottom line - Teflon and its associated by-products are dangerous and pose a significant health hazard to all.

Other Cookware:

Aluminum Cookware - Aluminum cookware is not desirable due to the Alzheimer’s and aluminum toxicity connection. If you will notice, your aluminum foil has a dull side and a shiny side. The dull side is a protective coating that separates the aluminum foil from contact with your food. The shiny side is unprotected. Thus, the dull side should always surround food items. Canned goods now have an interior dull wax coating in an effort to keep food and aluminum separated from one another. Chewing gum wrappers are protected with a paper coating preventing contact with gum.

Glass Cookware - Older glass cookware sets come with a lead toxicity problem. However, improvements in manufacturing the past 10 years have eliminated this issue. Newer glass cookware is perfectly acceptable.

Ceramic Coated Cast-Iron Cookware - Ceramic coated cast iron or stoneware has proven benign as well.

I have a cast iron pan and stainless steel pots

Looking to invest in some new cookery soon

Tilapia worst than Pork read why

Tilapia has turned into the universal fish in America today. It’s cheap, not “fishy” tasting, boneless and skinless, and is difficult to foul up by overcooking, which is an issue with numerous other fish assortments.

Then again, the tilapia we’re consuming is pretty much totally a cultivated fish, which means you can’t discover wild tilapia in any supermarket or on any restaurant menu. What’s more, the cultivating is generally done on a mechanical scale, with a huge number of fish being collected consistently.

Their food is not common — in the wild, tilapia would consume algae and lake plants, yet the homesteads fill out the fish on GMO corn and soy pellets.

The measure of empowering fish oils in these animals is pretty much non-existent, discrediting the principle motivation behind why fish is so great for us.

Why Farm-Raised Tilapia is So Bad for You

1. Late Studies have observed that farm-raised Tilapia may cause more aggravation – Farm-raised tilapia has dependably been a prominent hotspot for fish, not just in light of the fact that it is broadly accessible in the US, however it is likewise extremely cheap. Nonetheless, before you stock up on Tilapia, you may need to think about its relationship to aggravation.

Late studies have presumed that consuming Tilapia may decline aggravation that can prompt coronary illness, joint inflammation, asthma and an universe of different genuine wellbeing issues.

Individuals who resort to consuming more fish as an approach to get their dosage of omega-3-unsaturated fats and diminish their danger of heart attack may need to hold off on the tilapia.

Indeed, researchers have discovered that the incendiary capability of tilapia is far more noteworthy than that of a cheeseburger or pork bacon!

2. Farmed Fish

Farmed fish may have no less than 10 times the amount of cancer bringing on natural poisons contrasted with the wild variety – This can in all probability be credited to the bolsters that are utilized on ranch raised fish. In the event that you recognized what went into the sustains of ranch raised fish you would be alarmed.

Clearly, chicken excrement is one of the primary fixings that go into ranch fish feed. Not just that, the exchange of pig and duck waste to fish farms is additionally an exceptionally normal practice.

3. Farm-bred fish have been found to have high amassing of anti-infection agents and pesticides – Where do farm-bred fish get their anti-microbial?

The packed states of fish farms cause the fish to be more defenseless to infection. To keep them alive, ranch holders offer anti-microbial to the fish to fight off disease. Farm-bred fish are likewise treated with pesticides to battle sea lice.

The pesticides used to treat these fish are deadly to the point that they have been created to slaughter wild salmon that are inadvertently presented to them. These pesticides are likewise inevitably discharged in the sea where they get into the bodies and systems of other marine life.

4. Farm-bred fish likewise have lower levels of solid supplements.

Many of us devour fish, planning to harvest the omega-3 unsaturated fat advantages that accompany it. Then again, did you realize that the omega-3-acids that are found in farm-raised fish are less usable to our bodies contrasted with wild reared fish?

Farm-raised fish likewise have lower protein content. Not just that, on the grounds that farm-raised fish are kept up in pens, they tend to be fattier, and can have a higher convergence of omega-6 acids. The issue with getting an excessive amount of omega-6 acids is that they may cause aggravation to the body because of irregularity.

5. Dioxin levels are 11 times higher in farm-bred fish contrasted with wild fish

Dioxin is really an extremely lethal substance that can add to disease and different muddling. The issue with dioxin is that once it enters our system, it can take quite a while until it is let out. The half existence of dioxin is around 7 to 11 years.
